The manga continues with a retelling of the events that occurred in Boruto after starting with a conflict between a young Boruto Uzumaki and an enemy named Kawaki that occurs amid the devastation of his village: New information is presented in the movie Naruto. They are all members of a ninja team under the direction of Konohamaru Sarutobi, Naruto’s heir apparent and a student of Sarutobi. Sasuke has come back to town to deliver a message to Naruto warning him of the impending threat presented by Kaguya tsutsuki and his goals. Boruto goes to Sasuke and asks him to help him get ready for the upcoming Chunin exam in an attempt to please his father. When Naruto is taking the exam, a couple Sasuke met called Momoshiki and Kinshiki tsutsuki kidnap him so they may use kurama, a tailed beast imprisoned within Naruto’s body, to revive the dying Divine Tree in the world they came from. Boruto, Sasuke, and the four Kages, the heads of other ninja villages, have set out to rescue Naruto since he is in danger. With the help of Sasuke, Boruto and Naruto fight Momoshiki, who had sacrificed Kinshiki in order to boost his own power. Despite being defeated, Momoshiki manages to live long enough to reveal to Boruto his entire potential and warn him of upcoming difficulties. After he has recovered from the fight, Boruto realizes that he will one day become like Sasuke and advises Sarada to pursue her goal of succeeding him as the next Hokage.
Tento, the son of the Fire Daimyo, is protected by Boruto while on his second deployment. In the meanwhile, Boruto and Tento learn they share the yearning to be acknowledged by their respective dads. Tento is taken hostage by a group of criminals known as the Mujina, but Boruto is able to rescue him. But since he is aware of the mark Momoshiki has placed on Boruto, the leader of the Mujina gang is detained. When Naruto and the others learn that a group is hunting for people with the Karma insignia, they decide to join the search. The Kara gang is referred to as such. The team lead by Boruto encounters Kawaki, a youngster who shares Kara’s Karma and is on the run. Kawaki is accepted into the Uzumaki family as a member via adoption in order to protect him. While trying to protect Kawaki, Naruto and Sasuke are defeated by Jigen, the commander of the Kara. Sasuke is then let to leave the castle as Jigen locks Naruto up. Team 7 comes to Naruto’s aid and saves him after Momoshiki takes possession of Boruto as a consequence of his Karma. Sasuke learns that the tsutsuki clan wants to take over all Karma users, including Jigen, after learning this information. In exchange for information, Koji Kashin challenges Jigen while Amado travels to Konoha to request asylum. This information reveals that Isshiki, the true leader of Kara, has been inhabiting Jigen ever since he was betrayed by Kaguya when they arrived on Earth millennia ago, and that Karma permits the tsutsuki clan to resurrect through the host’s body. While this is happening, Kara starts to rebel. Despite the fact that Koji murdered Jigen, made Isshiki reincarnate incorrectly, took away Kawaki’s Karma, and forced Isshiki to run, Isshiki is able to force Koji to leave before leaving to attack Konoha.
Isshiki searches in vain for Kawaki there. Directly confronting him, Naruto gets ready for fight. After teleporting Isshiki and Boruto out of the village and into another reality, Sasuke and Naruto quickly pursued them. Isshiki wants to feed Boruto to his Ten Tails in order to develop a Divine Tree since Boruto is Momoshiki’s vessel. Naruto defeats Isshiki before Kawaki can trick him by using his new ability, the Baryon Mode, resulting in Isshiki’s death. But Kurama’s life is sacrificed in order to achieve this triumph. Sasuke’s Rinnegan was destroyed when Momoshiki’s possessor, Boruto, stabbed him in the chest. While Boruto heals from his wounds, Sasuke and Kawaki must take on Momoshiki. Code, who was defending the Ten-Tails, is ordered by Isshiki to carry out tsutsuki’s instructions by sacrificing either Boruto or Kawaki to the Ten-Tails, consuming the chakra fruit, and turning into tsutsuki. Isshiki makes this plea after his beating. Ten-Tails were under Code’s protection. Code swears solemnly that he will accompany Naruto, Sasuke, Kawaki, and Boruto in his quest for Isshiki’s retribution. He gets to where Boro is hidden, where he easily dispatches the guards. He then releases one of Amado’s most potent cyborgs, which was initially built with the intention of being destroyed by the previous owner. A female cyborg named Eida promises to help Code murder Naruto in exchange for Kawaki’s life being spared so that she may date him regularly.
